Review: Bassroom by Mastering The Mix
About
Balancing the low-end is one of the hardest challenges in any mix or master.
BASSROOM is a final mix and mastering EQ that helps beginners and pros nail their low-end in seconds. It does this by delivering exceptional sound quality and suggesting genre-specific EQ adjustments a great audio engineer in a world-class studio would make.
Mastering The Mix analyzed the best mixes in various genres to give you EQ target presets you can trust. You can also create your own targets with BASSROOM‘s inbuilt analysis tools. From this starting point, you can tweak your low-end to perfection using the immersive 3D room interface.
BASSROOM has unique features like:
- Unparalleled EQ Quality (the plugin has specifically designed filters that have minimal phase distortion AND minimal transient distortion providing greater transparency than standard linear-phase filters at low-frequencies)
- Immersive 3D Room Display (frequencies are displayed vertically, and gain is represented by depth in the room)
- EQ Targets You Can Trust (Mastering The Mix analysed the best mixes in various genres to give you EQ target presets you can trust)
Our Review
Using BASSROOM is extremely easy!
You can start by choosing a preset or you can even create your own. Presets are available based on music genre, but we like creating our own. First, we have to select a similar reference song and create a target using the chorus, because there is where the bass is best represented in the track. Second, we need to monitor the chorus of our own track. Then we instantly get the suggested EQ positions to use. After a bit of tweaking the low end tightens and the difference is impressive! And it only takes a couple of minutes to set. If the recommended changes are too drastic we can adjust the kick and bass tracks separately and then reanalyse with Bassroom again! It works every time.
Thank you Mastering The Mix for saving us valuable time and giving us more confidence when mixing!
