Our Review
First, we like the interface of the plugin, which is simple and intuitive. Let’s dive into each section of the plugin.
Init Page
On the init page we find 14 samples mapped white keys plus modifiers (half time, double time, reverse, down octave, up octave) and 5 custom modifiers.
The 4 macros designed by Mura Masa are: Terminal (gritty distortion), Peek (expressive delay), Angle (Phased reverb) and Sides (for adding stereo width).
Banks Page
The banks page contains 2 banks for drums and percussion, one for basses, one for drum loops, 2 for synths and guitars, and 2 for textures and fx. When you drag samples they are mapped automatically to key and BPM.
Edit Page
On the edit page you can edit samples, change start and end points, attack and release times, pan, volume; you can pitch up and down, change the formant, playback speed, etc. The 3 included fx are: reverb, modulation and a speaker emulation. In the sequencer you click to make steps active and you can press the modifiers A,B,C,D,E to trigger different sequences. In the full screen mode you can see the whole tracks together. You also have the ability to load your own samples, while the randomize button is useful to randomize all 14 samples.
Presets Page
There are 250 presets, expertly designed by Mura Masa and Excite Audio’s team of professional sound designers. These presets are grouped in the following categories: song starters, basslines, experimental, melodic, percussive, synths, textures. Presets starting with MM are made by Mura Masa himself.
