Motion: Harmonic by Excite Audio is offering distortion, filtering and bitcrushing under one package. If you like automation, you’re gonna love this plugin!

When we first load the plugin, we observe that visuals play an important role. Everything is done with the help of the hexagon controller, which consists of six macro sliders. We can assign the sliders to control any of the plugin’s parameters using simple drag and drop function. These six sliders are moved by a magnetic field surrounding the mouse cursor.

The cursor movements can be played live, recorded or pre-programmed. This opens up a ton of options as the possibilities are endless. You can automate movement in unique ways, just think about how many combinations are possible!

Paths can be recorded using the mouse cursor or designed using drawing and editing functions. The Timeline provides full flexibility for how it’s played back and triggered. Playback can be looped or triggered by your DAW.

The effect page of the advanced panel includes 4 effect sections: Bitcrush, Distortion, Peak Filter, LP/HP Filter. Each effect parameter can be assigned to the 6 sliders.

Alright, now it’s time to hear some preset examples (dry signal first, followed by wet signal). All samples have been provided by Loopcloud.

Conclusions

First of all, this is very interesting concept: a dynamic and interactive user experience. If you’re a fan of effects automation, this plugin is a must for you. There are endless possibilities to combine the parameters of the effects or you can use one of the 250 available presets for instant great results. Recommended plugin, 5 stars!
